Kia Ceed 2018-2025 LED Interior Dome Map Light Upgrade: The 10-Minute Transformation

12-piece LED interior dome map license plate light kit for Kia Ceed 3 MK3 2018-2025

Kia's third-generation Ceed was the car that finally made European buyers stop and pay attention. It wasn't just "good for a Korean car" anymore — it was genuinely competitive with the Golf and Focus, with Peter Schreyer's design language finally hitting its stride. The 2018-2025 Ceed, whether you've got the five-door hatchback or the Sportswagon, has an interior that punches above its weight class. Good materials, a clean layout, and on the post-2021 facelift, an impressive digital cockpit. But here's the thing Kia didn't bother upgrading: the interior light bulbs are the same basic incandescent units that have been used since the Ceed first launched. For a car that looks this modern in daylight, those yellow bulbs at night are a letdown.

What Is a Ceed 2018-2025 Interior LED Light Kit?

A Ceed 2018-2025 interior LED light kit is a set of direct-replacement bulbs that swap into the factory dome, map, reading, vanity, trunk, glove-box and footwell sockets without cutting or rewiring. AutoKitShop lists 40 Ceed 2018-2025 LED kits covering model years 2006 to 2023. Kits for this model run from 2-piece to 12-piece sets. Each bulb is rated at 300 lumens and roughly 3x the brightness of the original incandescent lamp, at a fraction of the current draw, with a 50,000-hour service life. Kits are supplied as complete sets with the correct socket adapters, so nothing needs to be ordered separately. If a bulb does not light on first fit, rotate it 180 degrees, because LEDs are polarity sensitive. Colour options are white (6000K), ice blue, warm white (3000K) and purple.

What Is Included in the Ceed 2018-2025 LED Kit?

AutoKitShop's Ceed MK3 kit takes care of 12 interior light positions: front dome and map lights (2 pieces), rear dome and map lights (2 pieces), vanity mirrors (2 pieces), trunk lights (2 pieces — the Sportswagon and hatchback both use twin cargo area bulbs), glove box (1 piece), license plate lights (2 pieces), plus 1 spare bulb and the trim tool. Everything uses the T10 W5W/194 wedge interface that Kia standardised across the Ceed's interior.

These aren't generic-fit bulbs. The kit is assembled specifically for the Ceed 3, which has slightly different bulb counts and positions compared to the previous generation. The twin trunk lights are a good example — if you bought a generic kit, you'd be one bulb short for the cargo area on a Ceed SW. Each bulb is a 31mm unit, rated at 300 lumens and 8W, with a claimed lifespan north of 50,000 hours.

What Should You Know About The Ceed's Interior Deserves Better?

Kia put real effort into the Ceed 3's cabin. The floating-style infotainment screen, the clean horizontal dash layout, and the nicely damped switchgear all feel a cut above. Then you open the door at night and the dome light throws this 1990s-era yellow puddle that makes the whole interior look a decade older. It's jarring.

The white LED option completely changes the mood. The dashboard's silver trim and the piano-black surfaces pick up the cool light cleanly. The Ceed's cabin isn't enormous, so 300 lumens per bulb is more than enough to light every corner — you'll see into the rear footwells, the door pockets, and that awkward space under the seats where everything you drop inevitably rolls. Owners on kia-forums.com and the Ceed owners' groups on Facebook consistently rank the LED interior swap as one of the best ten-minute mods you can do to a MK3.

How Do You Install LED Interior Lights in a Ceed 2018-2025?

Kia's interior design team must moonlight as DIYers, because the Ceed MK3 is one of the easiest cars to swap interior bulbs on. No hidden screws, no fragile clips, and everything is logically laid out.

Front dome/map lights: The lens pries off directly from the overhead console — no need to drop the whole unit. Start at the windscreen edge with the pry tool and work around gently. The bulbs are push-fit W5W types that pull straight out of their sockets. The MK3 Ceed's overhead console plastic is good quality — I've done this on three different Ceeds and never cracked a lens.
