Mazda BT-50 LED Interior Light Installation Troubleshooting

While installing the AutoKitShop LED kit in your Mazda BT-50 is straightforward, a few common issues can crop up.

What Is a BT-50 Interior LED Light Kit?

A BT-50 interior LED light kit is a set of direct-replacement bulbs that swap into the factory dome, map, reading, vanity, trunk, glove-box and footwell sockets without cutting or rewiring. (chassis codes BT50) AutoKitShop lists 12 BT-50 LED kits covering model years 2006 to 2021. Kits for this model run from 8-piece to 10-piece sets. Each bulb is rated at 300 lumens and roughly 3x the brightness of the original incandescent lamp, at a fraction of the current draw, with a 50,000-hour service life. Kits are supplied as complete sets with the correct socket adapters, so nothing needs to be ordered separately. If a bulb does not light on first fit, rotate it 180 degrees, because LEDs are polarity sensitive. Colour options are white (6000K), ice blue, warm white (3000K) and purple.

What Should You Know About LED Does Not Light Up?

Remove the bulb, rotate it 180 degrees, and reinsert. LEDs are polarity-sensitive. This solves 95% of dead bulb issues.

Will LED Bulbs Trigger a Warning Light on a BT-50?

Check that the bulb is fully seated. Loose connections cause intermittent contact. The AutoKitShop bulbs are designed to work with PWM dimming circuits.

Should You Upgrade More Than One Bulb?

Check those specific sockets for corrosion or debris. Use electrical contact cleaner to clean terminals.

What Should You Know About Light Stays On After Door Closes?

This usually indicates the delayed-off feature. If it stays on longer than 60 seconds, try a different color option from your kit.
