What Is a 308 Interior LED Light Kit?

A 308 interior LED light kit is a set of direct-replacement bulbs that swap into the factory dome, map, reading, vanity, trunk, glove-box and footwell sockets without cutting or rewiring. AutoKitShop lists 38 308 LED kits covering model years 2007 to 2021. Kits for this model run from 2-piece to 18-piece sets. Each bulb is rated at 300 lumens and roughly 3x the brightness of the original incandescent lamp, at a fraction of the current draw, with a 50,000-hour service life. Kits are supplied as complete sets with the correct socket adapters, so nothing needs to be ordered separately. If a bulb does not light on first fit, rotate it 180 degrees, because LEDs are polarity sensitive. Colour options are white (6000K), ice blue, warm white (3000K) and purple.

What Should You Know About The Peugeot 308 Great Car, Lousy?

The Peugeot 308 whether you're in an SW (estate/wagon), CC (coupe-cabriolet), T9 sedan, or a hot GTI is one of the best-handling compact cars of its era. But PSA Peugeot Citroen made some cost choices on the interior lighting that leave the cabin feeling dated. The factory incandescent bulbs put out a weak amber glow that makes the French interior design elements disappear at night.

Over on Peugeot Forums, the 308 section has a long-running thread about interior LED upgrades. Guys from the UK, Australia, and mainland EU sharing tips. The biggest hurdle everyone hits CANbus compatibility. Peugeot's BSI (Built-in Systems Interface) is notoriously sensitive.

What Is Included in the 308 LED Kit?

The 308 platform has had a few iterations, and this kit from AutoKitShop covers the main ones:

  • 308 SW (08-14) T7: 14 pieces. Covers dome, map, trunk, vanity, glove box, footwell, and door lights.
  • 308 SW (15-21) T9: 14 pieces. Updated layout for the second-gen SW.
  • 308 CC (09-14): 12 pieces. The cabriolet variant has fewer fixtures.

The bulbs are 5050 SMD LEDs with CANbus resistors built in. 300% brighter than the factory units. Direct replacement no adapters, no wiring mods.

What Should You Know About What Changes?

The 308 cabin is well-designed Peugeot interiors from this era are genuinely nice. But the yellow lighting washes out the materials. Swap to white LEDs and suddenly the carbon-fiber trim on the GTI pops. The leather seats look richer. The whole interior feels a trim level higher.

The SW owners get the biggest benefit. The 308 SW has a massive cargo area with the rear seats folded. The factory trunk bulb can't keep up. With LEDs, the entire load floor is visible.

The CC cabriolet has a unique problem the interior lights compete with sunlight when the top is down. Factory bulbs are useless during daytime driving with the roof open. LEDs punch through daylight, making the cabin usable even with the top down.

Will LED Bulbs Trigger a Warning Light on a 308?

PSA's BSI system is infamous in the aftermarket world. It monitors bulb resistance on nearly every circuit, and it's programmed with tight tolerances. Throw in cheap LEDs and you get the 'bulb failure' warning that stays on permanently, interior lights that flicker or pulse, or lights that stay dimly lit for hours after the car is parked killing your battery.

On PeugeotForums' 308 section, members have documented the exact resistor values needed to fool the BSI. This kit from MDNG (sold through AutoKitShop) uses those exact values. Pre-soldered resistors on every bulb. Plug and play with zero BSI errors. No CANbus decoder modules needed. No coding required.

This is the biggest selling point for Peugeot owners. You don't want to mess with a French BSI. They're expensive to replace and coding them requires dealer-level diagnostic tools. Get the right kit the first time.

Which Colour Temperature Should You Choose?

  • White: Clean 6000K. The safest choice for the 308 interior.
  • Ice Blue: Available in this kit. Cool blue-white tone.

What Should You Know About OEM vs MDNG LED?

How Do You Install LED Interior Lights in a 308?

  1. 308 T7 (08-14) the front dome light assembly has two Torx T10 screws hidden under the lens cover. Remove them, then the whole module drops.
  2. 308 T9 (15-21) the map lights are part of a larger overhead console. Two screws at the front edge, then slide forward to release the rear clips.
  3. 308 SW trunk light the unit is on the left side panel. Pry from the bottom with a plastic trim tool. The connector has a locking tab that must be pressed before disconnecting.
  4. 308 CC rear dome the convertible has a single rear dome light above the rear seats. The lens pries off from the back edge.
  5. Always disconnect the battery negative terminal before working on the overhead console. Peugeot's BSI can trigger airbag warnings if it detects power interruptions while the interior electronics are active.

What About Shipping and Warranty?

12-month warranty through AutoKitShop. Any bulb fails, they replace it. No returns shipping, no restocking fees.

What Should You Know About Final Word?

The Peugeot 308 is a great driving car with one obvious weak point the interior lighting. The CANbus issues make this a harder upgrade than most cars, but the MDNG kit from AutoKitShop solves that completely. Drop-in fit, zero errors, immediate transformation.
